Intimacy Director

My commitment is to support the development and continuity of a brave space where creativity can flourish, and everyone can work at their capacity.

I do not aim to dilute the portrayal of intimacy but to facilitate its fullest expression, emboldening actors by ensuring their personal boundaries of physical and psychological safety will not be crossed.

My aim is to facilitate the director’s creative vision of the intimate scenes in a project without sacrificing anyone’s physical and/or psychological safety.  Intrinsic to this is an appreciation of the fact that all members of the cast, creative team and crew come to a project with their own lived experiences, which may include personal trauma. Taking a trauma-informed approach does not mean we can’t tell sensitive and intimate stories: rather, it ensures that when we tell these stories, everyone goes home safe.

My work as an intimacy director draws on a rich array of skills in embodied acting and storytelling, excellent creative problem-solving and communication skills, my long-standing commitment to the well-being and mental health in the performing arts, and to the principles and practices of diversity, equity and inclusion. I aim to adapt my practice to suit your project, your process and your needs to enhance the storytelling of what are often some of the most exciting, vulnerable and revealing storytelling moments of any project.
